Organic Village
BHOOMI is implementing organic village project since 7 years with the financial support from Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka. Impressed by the Successful implementation made by BHOOMI during the second phase of Organic village program, Government of Karnataka has extended the financial support to implement the project in four villages in three districts, Chikmagalur, Hassan and Bangalore Rural.

As per the project mandate under each organic village 100 hectares of land should be converted to organic production. The project aims to create viable demonstrations of organic farming practices with community participation. This has been achieved through a menu of activities like- soil and water conservation, production of different organic manures, biological mixture preparations for the control of pests and diseases, encouraging inter cropping and multi cropping systems, planting of fruit and forestry trees, Organic Vegetable cultivation, fodder promotion, support for dairy animals and  bio diversity conservation.

AVANI Organic Products:
With the experience gained in the implementation of organic village projects, since five years we have created a marketing facility for organic produces. BHOOMI facilitated organic farmers to open ‘AVANI’ outlet in Ballupete of Sakaleshpura taluk, the products are branded as AVANI Savayava/Desi Utpannagalu and supplying organic products to many organic outlets in Bangalore, other parts of Karnataka and recently started to supply to neighboring states. These products are mainly certified as organic and main certified products are different varieties of Rice, Cereals, Spices, Vegetables, fruits and other non certified organic products like cold processed oil, honey, papads, sprouts etc.

Sustainable Agriculture Project:
Sustainable Agriculture project has been implemented in Belavadi cluster of Chikmagalur district with the financial assistance from NABARD. This project is benefitting over 2000 families in 13 villages. The objective of this project is to enhancing productivity of the lead crops/ activities through adoption of sustainable agriculture practices. Coconut, Ragi, Maize and Horse gram were considered for enhancement of the productivity. Dairy is one of the major activity which is directly influencing the livelihood of the farming families, hence Dairy is considered for the productivity enhancement both in fodder and milk.

To bring the seed sustainability community seed bank is established and major agriculture seeds distributed through the seed bank.

To provide the services like technical knowledge, quality seeds and agriculture inputs, marketing for the agriculture product even after the completion of project period strong Farmer Producer Organization has been successfully established.

Sustainable Coffee Production:
Sustainable coffee production project is implementing in Alur, Sakaleshpur and Mudigere talukas of Hassan and Chikmagalur districts respectively. The project is benefitting 400 families in three years. The main objective of the project is to ensure the sustainability of the coffee production through creating awareness and promotion of appropriate technologies, transfer of technology through farmers’ field schools etc. This project is supported by NKG Jayanti Coffee Private Limited, leading green coffee processor and exporter.

The main objective of the project
Developing and promotion of Sustainable coffee practices to stabilize the coffee productivity, increase the value of the quality coffee by Rain Forest Alliance Certification. Establishment Coffee Farmers Producer Company to take care of collective input purchase, Govt. Department linkages and marketing of Coffee.

Sustainable Nutrient Management practices are developed and successfully adopted. Action research is going on management of White Stem Borer Management, which is causing serious economic loss to the farmers and there are no practices to overcome the pest infestation other than the uprooting. With the technical collaboration with the IIHR scientists new eco friendly technologies are being practiced, this technology will be first ever practice where we can control the infestation by retaining the Coffee plants.

20 Farmers groups, 2 Sustainable Farmers Federation and Farmers Producer Company are established. 20 Resource farmers are developed; these farmers will be acts as the resource person and carry on the technology transfer program even after the project completion.

Village Development Programme:
Village Development Programme has been implementing in Narasipura, Phalguni villages of Chikmagalur and Yedehalli, Madabalu villages of Hassan Districts respectively. The main objective of the program is to develop rural infra Structure of a village with the convergence of all govt. departments and Non govt. agencies to develop model village. This project is supported by NABARD.

Tribal Development Project: (TDF)
The Project is implementing in Kadur and Tarikere taluks in Antaraghatte cluster of Chikmagalur District. The project is supported by the NABARD and it is benefitting 475 tribal families and 32 other poor families. The main objective of this project is to improve the socio economic status of the tribal families through the adoption of WADI (One acre is supported for Agri-Horti- Forestry program) with soil and water conservation. The WADI model will be developed in 5 years micro entrepreneurship activity is planned for the land less families’ with capacity building to manage the enterprise. Community health, hygiene, sanitation and promotion of sustainable agriculture practices were the other activities of the project. Capacity building of the families by Organizing Participant group (PG) trainings, Exposure visits and vpc(Village Planning Committee) trainings.100 WADI were implemented. 70 clean kitchens and 25 Soak pits have been completed.

Watershed Development Project: (WDF)
The WDF Project is implemented in Sakharayapatna hobli of Kadur taluk. Three micro watersheds 2500 Ha have been treated for soil and water conservation activities with the financial support of NABARD. 15 villages were covered under this programme. The main objective of this programme is to improve the underground water table through recharge and conservation measures with community participation. Afforestation and support for Horticulture in 1 acre, supporting the land less families through various livelihood programmes like, sheep raring, dairying, small business, creating awareness about the health sanitation etc are the other activities of the project.Programme is implemented through 3 village watershed committees and 15 Self help groups.

Integrated Watershed Management Project: (IWMP)
The IWMP project is implemented in Magadi taluk of Ramnagara District. This project is supported by the Department of watershed. The main objective of the project is to strengthen the community to involve in the programme through organizing meetings, gramsabha, jaatha, street play, organizing Training programmes, Area group formation etc, improve the underground water table in the area and integrated development of the family in the project area though various programmes. like, afforestation, Promotion of horticulture, various land treatment activities.
