Watershed Development Project: (WDF)
The WDF Project was implemented in Sakharayapatna hobli of Kadur taluk. Three micro watersheds covering 2500 hectares have been treated for soil and water conservation activities with the financial support of NABARD. 15 villages got the benefits of this project. The main objective of this program was to improve the underground water table through recharge and conservation measures with community participation. Afforestation and support for Horticulture in one acre, supporting the landless families through income generation activities like sheep raring, dairying, and small-scale business. Creating awareness of women’s Health, Organizing women’s health camps (Gynic camps, Eye camps, Dental camps, organizing Yoga classes for Women’s groups and children) Promotion of Medicinal plants for Primary health care through the Kitchen herbal Garden and Nutrition Garden. Promotion of the clean Kitchen Programme in the villages to improve the healing; of women and drudgery reduction of the women in the family.
