ABOUT US

Bhoomi Sustainable Development Society (BSDS) is a secular, non-political, non-profit voluntary organization with committed and dedicated professionals. BSDS has been a creation of like-minded individuals, who have culminated their individual experiences into reforming ways of agricultural practices and making it a reliable and sustainable option for prosperity creation for the farming community.

The organization is functioning in seven districts of Karnataka, namely, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Ramanagar, Davanagere, Bangaluru Urban and Bangaluru rural with major focus on soil and water conservation, promotion of organic farming, sustainable agriculture, action research and experimentation, promotion of kitchen herbal gardens, livestock management, conservation of plant genetic resources, rain fed farming, community health, drinking water and sanitation, improvement of irrigated areas, rainwater harvesting, formation and strengthening of community based organizations ( SHG,s( Self Help Groups)  JLG,s,( Joint Liability groups) VWC( Village Water shed Committee)  VPC( Village Planning Committee) Organic forming Committees, Producer companies, Societies and Farmer Clubs. Dissemination of agriculture technologies through publications and video documentaries.

Operating across seven districts of Karnataka—Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Ramanagar, Davanagere, Bangalore Urban, and Bangalore Rural—BSDS places a major emphasis on various aspects of rural development. Our core focus areas include:

  1. Soil and Water Conservation: Implementing strategies to preserve and enhance soil fertility while conserving precious water resources.
  2. Organic Farming: Promoting organic farming practices to ensure healthier produce and environmentally sustainable agricultural systems.
  3. Sustainable Agriculture: Advocating for agricultural methods that prioritize long-term viability and minimal environmental impact.
  4. Action Research and Experimentation: Conducting research and experimentation to innovate and refine agricultural techniques.
  5. Kitchen Herbal Gardens: Encouraging the cultivation of herbal plants for culinary and medicinal purposes within households.
  6. Livestock Management: Providing guidance and support for sustainable livestock rearing practices.
  7. Conservation of Plant Genetic Resources: Preserving biodiversity and safeguarding valuable plant genetic resources.
  8. Rainfed Farming: Developing strategies to enhance agricultural productivity in rainfed areas.
  9. Community Health: Promoting health and well-being initiatives within rural communities.
  10. Drinking Water and Sanitation: Ensuring access to clean drinking water and improving sanitation facilities.
  11. Improvement of Irrigated Areas: Enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of irrigated agricultural lands.
  12. Rainwater Harvesting: Implementing techniques to capture and utilize rainwater for agricultural and domestic purposes.
  13. Formation and Strengthening of Community-Based Organizations: Facilitating the establishment and empowerment of various community organizations.
  14. Dissemination of Agricultural Technologies: Sharing agricultural knowledge and innovations through publications and video documentaries.
